Ask SAL - The Safeguarding Adults Line

Are you concerned? Are you being taken advantage of, mistreated or even abused? Or do you know somebody who is?

Ask SAL is a pioneering new helpline set up in June of 2009 designed to give advice to people of Essex who are concerned about themselves or somebody that they know.

The helpline is operated by experienced and friendly helpline staff who will, when asked, and if necessary, follow the correct procedures to ensure that an investigation ensues to bring an end to the abuse.

However whilst Ask SAL can, on request, complete the referral process on behalf of the caller, staff will never share information with any other agency or person unless specifically requested to do so by the caller, or unless it is necessary to do so by law. The 0808 number cannot be traced on electronic or paper telephone bills.

You never know when an adult may need your help in Essex.

We’re asking you to save the Ask SAL Helpline number to your phone. Find out more about the Helpline and the ways you can help to raise awareness.

Alternatively you can text ASKSAL to 60777 to receive the number in a text message.

Important: The Ask SAL number is available from Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Outside of these hours calls should be made to the following numbers corresponding to the different locations:

Southend and Essex 0845 606 1212 (Fax 01245 434700)

Thurrock 01375 372468 (Fax 01375 397080)
